Keepsakes.

Special treasures that make my heart happy.  I’d like to share a few with you…

A sweet pup!

When I was a little girl, this pup sat on a shelf at my Granny’s house.  I have loved it for as long as I can remember.  My uncle John loved this pup too and Granny knew it, so when she passed away it was left to him.  A few years ago I was surprised with a special note and this pup, a gift from my uncle John.  Such a treasure!

The pup is a planter and when adding a plant I noticed something written on the bottom…

It was a special moment as I thought about this pup, costing less than $2 and being priceless to me!

Granny’s electric tea pot was passed to my aunt Janie.  A couple of years ago I was surprised with a special gift from her, Granny’s teapot…I was thrilled!

A special friend…

Most Saturday mornings, Mr. Heart and I go out for breakfast at a restaurant down the street.  One Saturday, about 3 years ago, I noticed this sweet little lady being seated in a booth near us and the tears began to well up in my eyes.  Her skin tone, hair and smile reminded me so much of my Granny, so I had to meet her.  I’m happy to say that we’ve been great friends ever since!
I’d like you to meet my sweet Miss B…

She will be 93 this year, such a precious lady!  Can you see the resemblance to my Granny?!
I love spending time with her and before Christmas I invited her over for lunch and to visit.  I also had a little something special for her from me…

Well, she had something for me too.  A couple of keepsakes that I will treasure forever!

This sweet chicken egg cup…

She had two of them, giving one to her son and one to me.  Perfect for toothpicks, don’t you think…

and knowing my favorite color is red, she wanted me to have this…

We came up with a great use for this beautiful dish.  Since we have quite a few magnolia trees in our yard, Miss B and I think this would be the perfect dish for some fresh cut magnolia blossoms…can’t wait for Spring!

No magnolias blooming now, but we do have some pansies I can share with you...

Here's the story of Granny's favorite dishes & puddin' pie written in 2011.

I’d love to hear about your keepsakes and special friends…do share!

And if you will, please keep Miss B in your prayers.  She’s recently had back surgery and is still in a good bit of pain.  Thank you!

Blessings,

MEMORIES!

So it is written
the hairdryer was invented back in 1890 by Alexander Godefroy.  He actually got the idea from the vaccum cleaner.  Supposedly back in the day, folks used the vaccum cleaner to dry their hair.
REALLY?!
Alexander invented it for usage in his hair salon in France. It wasn't portable or handheld, but instead could only be used by having the woman sit underneath it, a hair hood dryer.

They came in many shapes and sizes...

Well,
a few months ago my mom-in-law and I went antiquing and on our jaunt we stumbled upon this...

Finding this dryer definately brought back memories for me.
Back in the day my mother had one and my sisters and I used to use it.
We would wash our hair and then roll it with sponge clip curlers

and put the hair dryer cap on...let the drying begin!
Talk about a tight curl!

I'm telling on myself aren't I?  No really, I'm only 29!!!

Does this bring back memories for you?

Hope you have a WONDERFUL WEEKEND!
