Kitchen Tour ~ Our NEW Farmhouse Style Kitchen

Saturday, November 15, 2014

Hi sweet friends!

Many times during this remodel journey I wondered if my
dream
Farmhouse Style Kitchen and Keeping Room would actually come true?  It has!

We hired a contractor to permit our project and to oversee the removing of walls, installation of the beam and footers, and also for installing the front bay window.  It took so long to get those things scheduled and done so for the rest of the project we hired, scheduled, and supervised the trades working on our kitchen project.  It was a lot of work but we are
finally
finished and I'm so happy to share our new kitchen with you!

This view is looking up from the great room.
The doorway to the left leads into the formal dining room.

Our table and cupboards will go in this space.

The island will have four counter stools, two on the side and two at the end.  I've been searching and searching but no luck yet.

The perimeter countertops are Soapstone with White Venatino marble on the island.

Glass cabinetry was chosen for the front wall and I can't wait to fill them up with my blue & white and red & white china!

We add nods to the past as we remodel our home and this mullion design is referenced in the molding of old homes, one being the historic Thomas Bennett House in Charleston, SC.

The sinks are by Shaw and the fixtures are Rohl Country Kitchen.

The lighting over the island is from Ballard Design.

The ovens, microwave, warming drawer and dishwasher are by Thermador.

Remember My Special Place...the window I've been dreaming of?  Here it is!

We've cooked on gas ranges before and loved it so we are excited to have our first gas range!
It has a griddle for making those Saturday morning pancakes.

White subway tile for the backsplash.

We are so excited to have a fireplace in the kitchen!
On the hunt for seating to go here also, it's getting cold outside and I'm ready to cozy up.

Our cabinet maker also made the barn doors for our pantry.  The wood is from his friend's farm and taken from a barn built in the late 1800's.

There are still tables, chairs and cupboards to bring in and then lots of boxes to unpack so we can get settled in so I've got to get busy!

Here's how it looked BEFORE.

Hope you enjoyed the tour!
Thanks so much for following along with our Kitchen Remodel Diary.

  35. Very beautiful! I just finished a partial kitchen remodel (we are determined to stay debt-free since we paid off our mortgage in our 30's!). We hope to do the floors next year & we'll replace appliances as needed. It's also farmhouse style but more old fashioned than yours - like a working farm house but nicer than that. I wanted mine to feel like walking into my grandmother's kitchen & it does. :)

It's the best feeling to enjoy something you've dreamed for over 20 yrs. Congratulations.
