Possibly I should change the title of this post to "Ready for Fall."  You may remember I've been shopping for our cabin fixer-upper.  For the past year I've been acquiring furniture, bedding, kitchen supplies, and so forth, so we will be ready to move in when all the work is finished.  With that, our house is filled to the brim.  The living room is full, the downstairs guest room is full and things are spilling over into great room...it looks like a hoarder lives here!  Even so, I've decorated for fall and the main rooms we live in are ready for the season...so come on in!

Carpet to Wood ~ Staircase Update

It's Friday and I have big plans for this weekend,
hopefully I'll get the staircase priming and painting finished!

Here's where we are now...

After removing all the carpet,

carpet tack strips,

staples and nails,

we began removing the paint, filling all the holes and sanding...

If you remember our stair treads and risers are pine,
the type of wood intended to stay underneath carpet, but we decided to see what we can do with it
and were happy to find the front of the treads were bullnose even though the exposed ends are just a straight cut.

When the spindles were originally painted some got on the stair treads so we used paint remover to loosen it up...

It doesn't matter the number of steps...

SPRING IN THE FOYER

We've had a pretty day or two but over all it is still chilly and rainy here.

 I am soooo ready for brighter, warmer days!    

Wanting to add a bit of Spring in the foyer I combined a silver tray and pitcher with a few spring blooms to make an arrangement for the hall tree.

Ellie-Mae was my helper shadow.  A touch of white and pink and it feels like Spring...

So what's the weather like where you are?  

I hope it is bright and sunny with a warm little breeze...
