Guest Bathroom Remodel:  In the beginning...

We've lived in our home for over 11 years and have done a good bit of sprucing up.  We've painted, wallpapered, tiled the screen porch, re-screened the screen porch, removed popcorn ceilings and made them smooth, I could go on and on and on.  Unfortunately, the to-do list still goes on and on too!  You see, our house was built in 1973 and many things are in need of attention.  Actually, some rooms are in need of a major remodel!
We originally planned on remodelling our master bath.
It is really small, actually it is tiny!  So, we decided to combine my large walk-in closet with our tiny bathroom which would increase the size from tiny 8' x 5' to a much larger 8' x 14'.  This project would be a total gut job and to get things going we had to enlarge an existing closet located on the other side of our bedroom which you can read here, Master Closet Remodel.  Once this was complete I thought the master bath was next.  Uh...that would be a big, ginormous, negative!  Ain't gonna happen!  We hit a wall!
Actually, I hit a wall!

For almost 2 years I scoured magazines for inspirational pictures and found plenty.  I drew up plans, tore up plans, re-drew plans and threw them away...Ok, you catch my drift.  I could not decide! This total gut job was such a huge undertaking that I just never felt comfortable moving forward.  Urgh!!!!
So, my sweet hubby, who didn't think my poor head could take any more contact with the brick wall I kept hitting, had the GREAT idea to take on a smaller project for our first remodel.  He is so smart and I am happy to say that my poor head fared much better as our attention turned to the upstairs guest bath!
Below I will share our old ugly bath, but first lets take a peek at some dreamy bathrooms...

Brace yourself ... we are leaving the lovely to look at the UGLY!
Here is the before:

Our faux marble vanity

Fancy lighting...ha!

So, tell the tile yellow or orange?
Or orangish-yellow?
Depends on the time of day and how the light hits it...
Whatever the color, I was so glad when the sledge hammer hit it!!!
 And that is next...

Here you'll find all the REMODELS!

  1. I'm looking forward to your progress. What's nice is that is not so small so that works in your favor. Good luck!

  2. I cant wait to see your guest bathroom reveal Cindy!
Im sure it will be gorgeous!
You have some good "bones" in that bathroom!
We have 2 spare bedrooms on our upper level that we want to turn into our master bedroom.
It will be a dream project but I am excited about it! In due the meantime I am thinking of ideas of how to decorate it.
    Have a great weekend hun!

    Deborah xoxo

  3. So nice to have you back, Cindy! I think bathroom remodels are second only to kitchens -- both are messy and physically and mentally taxing. But.....the reward -- so heavenly! Can't wait to see!

  4. Love the inspiration pics you shared.....beautiful1 Will be fun to see what you decide to do. Welcome back to blogland. Linda

  5. I'm eager to see the 'new'! I bet you're so happy to be rid of the old look. In our old house, we had pink tile on the tub. And they couldn't blame it on being there since the 40's... No, they installed it in the 90's. It was a good feeling when that sledge hit that too!

    Have a great day.

  6. Cindy,
Loking forward to seeing the NEW LOOK!!! I think it looks yellow.

  7. Can't wait for the final reveal! Sounds like you really increased the size!

  8. Cindy your inspiration photos are stunning!! Can't wait to see what you decide!

  9. I am loving the gray cabinets, and of coarse we are about to have a master bedroom and bath reno, but....I don't know about painting my cabinets with my dark granite, and with new wood floors, new granite is just out of the question right now! Doesn't hurt to dream does it? Beautiful pics!

  10. Cindy, I know with your style the new bath will be beautiful! Thanks for sharing this at the Open House Party.

  11. I can't wait to see your finished bathroom. I'm glad I'm not the only one with a less than stellar bathroom *winks* I can use all the inspiration I can get! Vanna

  12. We have a bathroom I dream about renovating - love your inspirations! They look marvelous - can't wait to see the end result! I do appreciate you sharing with Home and Garden Thursday,

  13. Can't WAIT to see your reveal. All of your inspiration is gorgeous! Be sure to come back and share the remodel with us, I know it's going to be fabulous. :)

  14. This is where I am now--orange tile (but yours looks yellow to me). Blowing out the closet was the perfect solution for your remodel! I love 70s-90s homes because they seem to be solid, with good bones. Your new bath is beautiful!!!!

Your visits make my day and so do your sweet comments. Thank You!
