A Timeless Log Home

Thursday, April 28, 2016

It's a dream of mine to one day have a place in the mountains.
I can picture it ... a new "old" colonial home built using a historic log home that's been moved to the perfect piece of property with mountain views and a rushing stream surrounding it.

It's just a dream and I'm not sure it will ever become a reality so it's a real treat to tour a home that has the look and feel of the one in my dreams, like this one.

A Beautiful Place ~ The Ridgeview Manor Mountain Home

Friday, February 26, 2016

We love the mountains and head that way every chance we get.
Just a little over two hours away, we hitch out camper to the truck and head to the Boone area for a long weekend stay and when we are real lucky for a week.
We dream of one day owning a quaint log cabin in the woods where family and friends can join us for a quiet and relaxing time together. It's fun to dream and for fun I enjoy looking at mountain homes on the market and those available for vacation rentals.

There are so many styles of mountain homes from off-the-grid primitive to very elaborate, and my do I have a beauty to share with you today.

The Ridgeview Manor mountain estate was designed by Bobby McAlpine, a renowned Southern architect.  Situated on 12.74 acres this 4 level, 9600 SF, 7 BR, 7 1/2 BA can be rented for weddings or a lovely vacation getaway.

Circa 1910 Home Tour

Sunday, May 3, 2015

Happy Saturday!

I've been on the historic home theme here lately and have a gorgeous circa 1910 Victorian to share with you today.

The authentic details in this home have been preserved while incorporating many modern conveniences.  Located in the heart of Historic Georgetown, South Carolina, this home has three floors, 5 bedrooms, 4.5 baths, 4,600 sq. ft., and at least 8 fireplaces.

I love the exterior of this home.  The Tudor diamond-panel windows are so pretty and look at those porches!  Two levels and they wrap around too.

Come on, let's get this tour started...

Charming Historic Homes

Friday, May 1, 2015

Remember me recently sharing scenes of old barns,
houses,
churches,
and gorgeous gardens
while on our trip Down South?

Well, I finally made it through more of the pictures taken while strolling down streets lined with live oaks in the heart of Georgetown, South Carolina, and wanted to share them with you.

Don't you love the color of the front door?  Robin's Egg Blue.

Touring homes is something I really enjoy, especially those old historic charmers.

While in Georgetown, SC this past weekend for a Plantation Tour, we learned the beautiful Chicora Wood Plantation is on the market.  I wanted to share it with you just in case you may be searching for an old historic charmer for yourself.

After traveling down a very long drive, lined with azaleas and hundred year old live oaks, you finally reach the house...

A Southern Spring Stroll

Friday, April 11, 2014

The weather was beautiful during our stay at the Carolina Inn.

The sun was bright,

the birds were singing,

and the flowers were blooming...so we went for a stroll.

There were stone stairways and walls all covered in moss...

Beautiful gardens and gates...

Charming historic homes...

And an old Pure gasoline station sign...a reminder of days gone by...

Chapel Hill is a charming place to visit, we had a great time!
If you missed the tour of the Inn, you can see it here...

Tour a Historic Southern Charmer~The Carolina Inn

Thursday, April 3, 2014

Mr. Heart and I recently attended a wedding in Chapel Hill, NC.
The wedding was on Friday night, so we decided to make a weekend out of it and stayed in
a historic southern charmer.

Come on in and tour The Carolina Inn...

The grand entry is surrounded by sitting areas...

Each sitting area was unique;
classic style with a historic feel and bright colors adding a bit of fun.

Gorgeous lighting, damask wallpapers, antiques, Chippendale chairs, and fresh flowers...

The Inn has three floors with lots of hallways leading to the guest rooms
and each hallway has a sitting area...

Some areas were very formal...

And others were classic and full of charm...

The guest rooms and baths were beautifully decorated,
historic charm with bright and cheerful touches...

Historic,
antiques,
classic style,
the decor was right up my alley...I was in heaven!

Hope you enjoyed the tour!  Please leave a comment so I'll know you did...
