The Den ~ Saying Goodbye...

JOY IN AUTUMN

Friday, October 4, 2013

This is such a beautiful time of year.

Bright skies,

cool breezes,

the changing of leaves,

nippy evenings,

afghans and coffee,

sweet candles scents and touches of Autumn in the den.

Baskets,

pinecones,

a swan,

pumpkin,

and birds...

Warm rays of sunshine fill the room,

Sweet candle scents...

The sun begins to set,

and evening shadows begin to fall.

We have eaten dinner,
picked out a movie and are looking forward to a quiet night.

Joy fills the soul as we enjoy these touches of Autumn.

Hope your day has been wonderful and your evening is even better!
I have an afghan and am making more coffee...
Blessings,
Cindy

Salt Box and a Silver Birds Nest

Saturday, April 13, 2013

pansies

Hi Sweet Friends!
It’s another beautiful day here in NC, reaching in the 70’s!  I love this time of year, except for the pollen.  Lots of sneezing and everything is covered in yellow!

I’ve been switching up some things in the den.  This early 1800’s salt box caught my eye on Ebay about 15 years ago...wow, I'd forgotten it had been that long ago!  I liked the scroll work across the top, that it was all wood and larger that most I was finding.  It also has a flip top and small drawer so it is nice for storing things like extra coasters, a pen and pad.

Porcelain birds catch my eye when I’m out and about and they will come home with me if pretty and at a good price.  These were in the living room but have been moved to the den with this dish as a silver birds nest…

I’ve done a little change in the dining room too.  On the mirrored plateau the dried hydrangea have been replaced with white and purple pansies that have been added to this silver and crystal set…

A few years ago I found two hourglass hurricane sleeves at an estate sale.  I’ve coupled them with some crystal candlesticks and have placed them on either side of the mirrored plateau…

Hope you have a GREAT day!
Blessings,
Cindy

Little Lamps to Light the Way

Tuesday, April 2, 2013

It's all about Lamps...

These little lamps are always kept on for a bit of light along the way,
which is especially nice at night...

This little silver lamp sits on top of our television in the den.  I found it at an antique store and thought it was a deal for only $13...

There is a little brass candlelight which is tucked behind the Rooster which lights up this part of the kitchen.

On a little desk in one of the downstairs hallways is a little blue & white lamp.

This lamp adds a nice touch to the counter in the downstairs guest bathroom.

A candle light adds a warm glow on this bookshelf.
The 6 watt bulb adds just the right amount of light to brighten this spot.

On the hall tree in the front foyer sits this lamp
so anytime we head downstairs there is a soft glow to light our way.

Thanks so much for visiting, hope you'll leave a comment so I'll know you did!
Blessings,
Cindy

NUTCRACKER CHRISTMAS!

Saturday, December 17, 2011

DwellingsChristmas
Nutcrackers
NUTCRACKERS
are Mr. Heart's favorite Christmas decoration.

These nutcrackers have a home
on the den fireplace mantel this year.

Along with a touch of garland,
laced with lights, pine cones and berries...

Glitter trees for some added sparkle!

This antique fireplace mantel was found in an antique shop
here in town and has moved with us from house to house.

Does your hubby have a favorite Christmas decoration?
More nutcrackers, wreaths and berries can be found here on the Great Room Mantel!

OH CHRISTMAS TREE!

Oh Christmas Tree
Oh Christmas Tree...
Our den tree is decorated and ready for presents!

A homespun angel with evergreen wings is holding baby Jesus. "Lo, I bring you tidings of great joy!"

Red berry garland, still pretty after all these years...

Decorated with ornaments from friends, family, and those made by our children.  This is what makes the den tree so special!

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU!
Thanks so much for visiting, I really appreciate your comments!
