Primitive Equestrian

Saturday, January 17, 2015

I'm drawn to the primitive decor style of the 18th and 19th centuries,
but the rooms can become a bit drab, which I love but don't necessarily want to live in.

While the white vintage and primitive decor style many use to decorate with today is lovely,
I do love color.
To stay true to the furnishings I love,
I temper myself by keeping some things on the lighter side,
so the walls in the great room are painted a gray-white.

I love horses too.
And though we live on old farmland,
our neighbors have horses, goats, and chickens,
and my sister raises Friesians on her farm,
it's been a long time since I've owned a horse.

Well, that's changed!
I got myself another one and here he is...

Nope, I can't ride him, but that's okay.
As I rounded a corner at one of my favorite shops,
it was love at first sight!

Primitive and well worn,
I think he's a beauty and goes well with the Equestrian style already in the great room.

Hope you are having a great week!

  1. I love your new horse. Any time I see something equestrian themed in an antique store, I'm immediately attracted. He looks great on your cabinet.

  4. Hey! (is for horses).

It's the perfect addition to the room. Whimsical, historical and the colors are just right.

  6. What a find and a real beauty....I used to collect folk art rocking horses, but I downsized my collection years ago....I now have seller's remorse...
