So what’s a girl to do with used paper towels and ALL that LINT?
It gets put it in the best little laundry basket ever.
With no room on the floor for a trash can, I had to come up with another solution.
So a little basket, some ribbon and a hook screw…voila!

Speaking of laundry rooms…

We’re making some plans and I’m looking for ideas for storing the iron and ironing board.
Take a peek at these solutions found on pinterest.  If you have any ideas…I’m all ears!

The Laundry Room
The laundry room,
so necessary,
and we all have one,
but do YOU enjoy spending time in there?

Not me.

It's one of my least favorite things to do.
Hauling laundry down the stairs,
sorting,
washing,
drying,
hanging up
folding,
ironing,
putting it all away…YUCK!

I wanted to brighten up the room and thought about painting the walls and cabinets but just wasn't ready, so I added toile wallpaper to the cabinets and it really lightened up the room.

Not long after I found the same toile pattern in fabric and made the sink skirt...

The door to the screened porch also has a valance in the same pattern...

The antique washboard was purchased at auction...

Across the room is an antique drying rack.
I remember smiling when I saw the manufacturer’s name was Hopkins, the same last name as my great-grandparents...

Did you notice the name of the clothes drier?  "Perfection!"
I am so glad drying clothes has been made more perfect...aren't you!

My Granny loved porcelain figurines.
They were placed here and there on her side tables and shelves and as a little girl I would curl up in granny’s chair to admire her figurines.  I would daydream, whisked away as I admired the pretty ladies in fancy dress and their gentlemen callers who lovingly held their hands, singing and reading to them, and presenting them with flowers...

My love for porcelain figurines came from Granny.  I have been collecting them for a long time now and these have found a home on the laundry room shelf...

Downton Abbey Look-a-Like

Monday, February 25, 2013

The wait is over, I’m sharing my recent pause and snap!

My mother introduced me to Downton Abbey and I have been hooked ever since.

On several occasions when watching Downton Abbey, I noticed something that looked familiar.  So when I saw it again while watching the last episode, I grabbed the remote, hit pause and snapped a picture of the TV screen!

See that little table?

Here it is a little closer…

It reminds me of our little table in the hallway.

Here’s my Downton Abbey look-a-like.

These pictures were taken early in the morning when the sun was coming in through the bathroom window…
