PEEK AT THE GUEST ROOM

Wednesday, May 18, 2011

We've gotten a little done, so I wanted to give you a peek in the downstairs guest room...

Definitely a work in progress and still not sure of a few things, but I am so ready to have this room finished.

My sweet cousin gave me these beautiful pictures which became my inspiration for this room...

If you have followed me for any length of time, you know my favorite color is red.  These pictures, with every shade of pink and red, made it easy for me to choose the paint color for this room.  A soft green color was chosen for the walls and red dupioni silk draperies for the window treatments.

The draperies were hung and very pretty, but just not right for this room, so we moved them to Mr. Heart's office and they look great in there!  I've been keeping an eye out for draperies (that I liked and at a decent price point) and recently found some floral print pre-made drapes, which are perfect for this room. And yes, they were on sale at a great price, yippee!

For me, every room should have a few antiques, like the one below.  This piece was purchased from some missionary friends heading to Italy.  They were selling their furnishings and this family piece was very special to them, so I've promised to take good care of it!

The glimpse I'm giving you in the picture below is a special gift that I received from a dear friend of mine.  This used to belong to her grandmother who passed it down to her mother, who then passed it down to my friend.  I was so surprised, happy and blessed when she chose to pass it on to me!
Just giving you a peek...can you guess what it is?

Still pulling this downstairs guest room together and the bedding is next.  I will say that the draperies were such a good price that I bought extra to use with the bedding...hopefully it won't be long now!

Love your sweet comments.
Blessings,

  6. You are well on your way...I think the curtain panels are going to make the room...what a great choice! I have some unlined panels I got to use in my living/dining rooms with the intention of somehow lining them myself...maybe I'll follow your lead and get something already lined. Can't wait to see the finished product...~Ann

The piece of furniture I see on the side, seams like, those they used before for men's shirts and underclothing, it was for men's wear, specially, before walk in closets, lol! My hubby enherited his father's "weekly" as they call it here. Love this post.
