A Steal of a Deal and a Touch Up for Fall

Tuesday, November 8, 2016

It had been a while,
and my car must have known it,
because I was in the parking lot before I even knew what was happening.

Does this ever happen to you?
That extra sense; it just kicks in and there I am...
out of my car and in the store with my fingers wrapped around the shopping cart!
On this day it was Goodwill and I found a steal of a deal that just needed a little touch up.

From a distance it was the red checkered shade calling my name and it got even better as I pushed the cart closer and closer to see the base of the lamp was a rooster.  If you've been around here for any amount of time you know that two of my favorite things are the color red and roosters; Score!

There was little too much blue and shiny gold for my liking, but I figured a little touch up would make it perfect.

Mission accomplished.
After a quick dry brushing of chalk paint to tone down the gold and blue areas; it's perfect!

I used my new find to create a fall vignette on the kitchen island.
I added a small spray of pumpkins and acorns to the base of the lamp and then placed the lamp on a wooden cutting board.  Just beside, I placed a bird dish filled with pumpkin potpourri and the Pothos plant adds the finishing touch.

The vignette is especially pretty in the evenings as the sun begins to set.

Did I mention this was a steal of a deal?
The lamp was only $5.99!

There is still time to join in!

I adore how you've added your own personal touch by toning down the vivid hues in the base!
That petite open space is "perfect" for adding a seasonal touch!
