Christmas in the Great Room

Wednesday, December 16, 2015

It is always such fun decorating for Christmas.

Since before Thanksgiving and all the way through New Year's Day our calendar is full!   Much more so than any other year I can remember.  The week following Thanksgiving I had less than a week to get the house decorated and a menu planned and prepared for the first Christmas party to be hosted here, so I scaled back the decorating.
With all these events to host and attend, my focus has shifted from decorating ,taking pictures for blogging and the usual holiday activities to preparing for more gatherings with special friends and family.
Though this involves a lot of extra planning, cleaning and cooking, I am enjoying it so much!  More focus on others and spending quality time with them is truly making this an extra special Christmas season.

The great room is simple and fun this year.
With snowmen, snow birds, lots of berries and cute little hats too...come on in!

Gold and glittery acorns dangle from the lamp.
Simple ribbon, berries and a few holly leaves were added to the bird that always graces this side table.  Just enough added to her Christmassy!

Just to the left of the lamp is a sweet pair of Christmas birds.
One of the birds sits on a gold ornament placed on top of a vase.

Across the room and just above the big screen hangs an antique window with plaid ribbon bow and pine cone garland.

And isn't this just the cutest pup ever!
An antique chalk boxer has been adorned with a little plaid Christmas ribbon.

Speaking of cute, how about the primitive pull toy horse decorated with a Santa hat and berry bows!
He has a special place sitting on top of the corner cupboard.

On the trunk just in front of the couch is a snow bird in her nest with glittery acorns and pine cones all around.

Christmas birds are nestled on top of the lid to a silver dish with a little more greenery and red berries just to the side.

In the bay window is a garland full of pine cones and lights.
Nestled within is a charming glitter snowman, a lantern and several small Christmas trees too.

  8. Adore the use of the winter birds and plaid ribbon. I'm a big acorn girl, so those were a hit for me.
