Home Tour #2~Historic Homes, Plantations and Gardens

Hi Sweet Friends!

I am so excited to share more of the historic homes on the Georgetown, SC Plantation tour with you.

CHICORA WOOD PLANTATION

THE EXCHANGE PLANTATION

Most of the Exchange Plantation is seen from the side view.  This picture was taken as we walked up the path towards the front of the house.

To welcome you into the courtyard are columns covered in creeping fig and topped with angels.

This is a historic tree dates back to 1737.
It's sad watching it slowly decay, so every year we attend the tour we have our picture taken in front of it.

Bee houses line the road as we are leaving the property.

BARROW HOUSE

The Barrow House isn’t historic but is built on property from the original Rice Hope grant.  This homes interior has a more modern flair and is full of contemporary art…

This is the guest house located just to the left of the main house.

WAVERLY PLANTATION

I REALLY wish we were allowed to take pictures inside these homes so I could share the interiors with you.  This plantation home is not as grand as many on the tour nor is it as elaborately decorated as some, but it is one of my favorites.  It is “simply-gorgeous” and just kind of hugs you.

Many of the homes on the tour have Charleston Sweetgrass baskets hanging on the entry doors.

  2. Thanks for taking us along on the tour! I wish you could have taken interior photos too, I would have loved to have seen the furniture. Or was it antique? Some places don't have all the fancy period furnishings, but how much nice it is when they do.

  6. I love the fountain in your last picture, Cindy -- so pretty. The first two plantation houses are my favorite, I think; but I'm with you, I wish we could see pictures of the interiors. I LOVE the big porch on the first house (Chicora Wood). I think the second house is charming; it's sort of built in the low-country style with the sloping roof and dormer window. I've just got to talk Mr. Forest Manor into doing this tour maybe next year. :)

Thank you for taking us on the tour with you, Cindy. Have a wonderful weekend!

  9. These are amazing homes, Cindy! Chicora Wood reminds me somewhat of Mount Vernon and I can see why you like Waverly Plantation-it does seem to have a special warmth to it. Thanks for the tour!

  12. Cindy, I enjoyed going on the tour with you! We lived in Mt. Pleasant for years and frequently drove up to Georgetown, but we never went on a tour of the homes. We live inland now, but Georgetown is an easy day trip for us. We'll have to go on a tour next time we're there.

  16. It's always a shame not to be able to photograph in tour homes because there are so many lovely things to share. Oh well, seeing the outside was pleasure enough.

  17. Lovely places and after I finish this comment I am going to tour them again. I love the spainish moss dripping from the trees. I wonder why some we can take pictures in and others we can't? Your pictures are so clear and I like how you captured details like the door sway, love it.
Always get ideas from visiting these beautiful places.
