A Timeless Log Home

It's a dream of mine to one day have a place in the mountains.
I can picture it ... a new "old" colonial home built using a historic log home that's been moved to the perfect piece of property with mountain views and a rushing stream surrounding it.

It's just a dream and I'm not sure it will ever become a reality so it's a real treat to tour a home that has the look and feel of the one in my dreams, like this one.

A cedar house built in 1995 using salvaged and reclaimed materials with a historic cabin wing that was moved and reassembled as a more recent addition.

The log cabin addition was an original 18th - 19th century log home that was painted yellow, orange and red and was being used for storage when this family purchased it and moved it log by log.

The perfect stair riser detail, small hooked rugs...charming!

You would never know this new "old" log home addition is only 15 years old!

How about you...ever dream of a place in the mountains or at the beach?

  2. This is a perfect example of knowing what you want very early on. Changes are so difficult and expensive to make later. Wow~I love everything! Everything is very authentic for a mountain home, even the furnishings!

I hope you realize your dream one day, Cindy! :)

  3. Just my style! I'd love to have a tiny home built on my Daughter's place, using the wood from my grandparent's barn in Carolina. It won't happen, but I like to imagine it. Love watching Barnwood Builders!

  5. I truly hope your dream comes true! I have not ever wanted a log home, but love seeing them and how different homeowners personalize them. This one is lovely and so welcoming. I would however, take a log home if it were nestled in such a picturesque setting along a mountain stream.

  7. My sister would be the mountain girl, give me the beach! Then, we could trade every once in awhile! Beautiful dream! May God show you ways to work toward that dream! Blessings, Cindy xo
