Dwellings                   Home Tours
I have enjoyed reading your comments on Part 1 of Home #5 on the Virgina Home Tour.
I agree with you, this one has been my favorite too!
You will love the rest of the home, so let's get to it...

In Part 1 we ended the tour in the lovely four seasons room and right outside is the pool house...

The pool house is a multi-function space.  A one car garage, houses the pool equipment and though we were not able to go inside, by looking in the windows it appeared to have an outside shower option as well.

And of course, where there is a pool house, there has got be a
POOL...

Back inside were some beautiful bedrooms and I am so sad that I cannot find the pictures for most of them.  I don't know what happened but they have unfortunately disappeared from my files.  But, I do still have these to share with you...

A guest room with many custom features from
bedding, window treatments and beachy murals painted on the walls...

In this next picture, notice how the painted wall mural pier ties directly into the rooms built-in bench.  It was really nice!

This boys room was so cute and all about football...the Cowboys to be exact!

And lastly, the media room.  These chairs were so nice and were actually recliners.  They didn't look like recliners...but they were.
And comfy too!

Sure hope you liked the tour...

The next home on the tour is their Breast Cancer Awareness Home and it is lovely, so stay tuned!

If you are like me, you go to any home tour you can.
My home is very important to me and I am always looking for ways to make it pretty and welcoming for my family and all who enter, so I enjoy home tours and always leave with ideas and inspiration on new ways to fluff my nest.
I really hope you enjoy the home tours that I share with you!

WELCOME to Home #5 on the Virgina Home Tour!
I fell in LOVE with this home, inside and out!
I took sooo many pictures  that I would like to share with you, so this home will be shown in several different posts.
Here we go for Part 1...

This is such a pretty entry foyer.  The woodwork throughout this home is beautiful!  From the stairs, wall board, window trim and even the doors...it is amazing!

The dining room is gorgeous!
The furniture, fabrics, wallpaper and decor are timeless and oh so classy.

To the left of the dining room is the great room. Even more beautiful woodwork in this room
with the coffered ceiling and built-in cabinetry.

This built-in unit is right outside of the great room...

This white kitchen is such a classic...

The lighting and stools added the perfect touch to this kitchen...

The open shelving, center sink, rod for hanging and counters for folding make this such a stylish and practical laundry room!

Off of the kitchen is an eat-in dining area.
Isn't this woodwork amazing! Such attention to the detail was given throughout this home! These window treatments and chandelier are so pretty, and more built-ins in this room too!

Can you imagine having this for a walk-in pantry, such a lovely built-in option!

To the right of the eat-in kitchen area is a lovely four season porch...

Yes, I LOVED touring this house!
So, what did you think, do you love it too?!
How about all the detailed woodwork, don't you think it is amazing?!

More to come in House #5 Home Tour Part 2, so stay tuned!

GLORIOUS AFTERNOON COLORS!

Friday, February 17, 2012

Dwellings
Shinning so brightly across the rooms are all the colors of the rainbow!
One of my favorite times of the day are afternoons,
when the first beckon to "come and see" are found in the kitchen,
dancing brightly across the wall.

Late afternoon is when the rays of the sun join the crystal chandelier for their amazing dance in the dining room.
The dance that brings a smile to my face and joy to my soul...every time!

The dance starts off slow, but it grows.
It grows brighter
and larger
and more colorful
as the sun and crystals join their beauty for the dance.

The colors,
they change.

At the hint of a nod
or
tiniest step of foot,
the colors change.

From pink to blue,
green to red,
purple to yellow...
the colors join together and dance!
I wish you could see it in person...

And it seems that just as soon as the dance begins, it's time.
The time when the sun sets lower,
and the crystals can no longer catch the rays,
so the dance slows
and the colors begin to fade.

The colors fade, making way for the evening shadows.  They are beautiful too!

A glorious time of day, the late afternoon.

And I know from whom this beautiful dance comes...
how it is that happy smiles come and my soul is filled with joy as I take in this amazing sight!
The beautiful display when rays of sun touch cuts of crystal for their afternoon dance.
This time of day, I am reminded, from whom all blessings flow!

"On the glorious splendor of Your majesty and on Your wonderful works, I will meditate.
Psalm 145:5
Hope you are having a wonderful week my sweet friend!

Blessings,
Cindy

NEEDLEPOINT AND A PEEK!

Monday, February 13, 2012

Dwellings          Needlepoint
For as long as I can remember I have loved needlepoint.
Pillows, footstools or framed...I love it!
Finding these in antique stores, I always wonder about who stitched each piece and the time it must have taken them.  Some are so intricate.
Many of the pieces I have collected over the years are in our den.
This one is framed with a velvet border and kept in a built-in bookshelf...

This small needlepoint hangs in the hallway across from the den...

Here is a closer view...

This oval framed piece was one of the first pieces I ever purchased.  It is paired with a blue and white tea pot that was my grandmothers.
A very special keepsake!

A black and white treasure with a saying that is oh, so true...

This little needlepoint is one of my favorites, I love the frame...

These pieces find their home on the wall...

and on the table...

and a needlepoint footstool in front of the sofa...

I have many more pieces throughout my home but I wanted to share my latest find with you.
Last week a friend and I went to a couple of antique shops and I was thrilled to find these two beauties...the time it must have taken to stitch them!

I didn't care for the black frames and they filthy dirty,
but I knew I had the perfect place for them!

Look at this glass, they were filthy!

So I cleaned the glass and painted the frames with paris grey & a touch of old white CP and VOILA'...

Here they are in their new home, our downstairs guest room.

Yes, for now just a peek at the guest room,
it is still a work in progress.  Lots going on, so more to come soon!
