There is a crepe myrtle bush right next to our feeder outside my office window and there the bully sits and chases everyone else away. They are hilarious to watch and I look forward to this each year when the hummingbirds return to our area. To be so small and adorable, they sure are feisty! We took our hummingbird feeder down this year, because we just don't seem to get many hummingbirds, and we're not sure why. We replaced it with a thistle sock for the goldfinches, which has been a big hit. We have four feeders up outside our screened porch, each with something different in it. We do see at least one dispute a week between the different birds. My in-laws feed the hummingbirds, and they've mentioned that certain ones will stalk the feeder and run the others off. What rascals!

Your pictures are always so good, and I enjoyed this post. Thanks for sharing, Cindy, and have a great week!

Hugs,

DeniseDenise at Forest Manorhttp://houseatforestmanor.blogspot.com/2015/08/take-me-out-to-ball-game.htmlnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3198642533840030075.post-5810393327794046512015-08-02T13:46:43.270-04:002015-08-02T13:46:43.270-04:00Great pics, Cindy! We definitely have bullies at ...Great pics, Cindy! We definitely have bullies at our hummingbird feeder, but unfortunately, our bullies are BEES! They swarmed the feeder preventing the poor hummers from gaining access. And, the bees were getting aggressive (which I thought was odd) and a few would break away to buzz by us when we walked anywhere near it, so I eventually took the feeder down. Flying insects are in abundance here this year. But, I love that you're able to add additional feeders to address your bully. :)Carolyn @ Our Gilded Abodehttp://ourgildedabode.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3198642533840030075.post-34441748254430126912015-07-31T14:26:11.804-04:002015-07-31T14:26:11.804-04:00Hummingbirds are very territorial.

They will circle the flower, sipping from each little tiny yellow bloom around the center. They also love my coleus in bloom. The real bully is an unsuspected one that I posted about two years ago - the praying mantis! Did you know they can devour a hummer simply by lurking on the feeder? It's true.
Rita C at PanoplyRita C at Panoplyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17351306074493103021noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3198642533840030075.post-57787605268379751722015-07-30T14:37:22.066-04:002015-07-30T14:37:22.066-04:00Those hummers are so much fun to watch!
