Silver Dish Turned Candle Holder in the Guest Room

Wednesday, October 28, 2015

It all started while searching for a few things to use in the guest room.

I was out and about,
searching for a little of this and that,
when I spotted a small silver serving dish missing the glass insert.

Priced at just a few bucks, I knew just what to use it for.

Fancy details,
badly tarnished (love!),
and missing the glass insert;
this silver dish would be perfect.

I needed a glass sleeve and a sweet smelling pillar candle,
so I headed to a hardware store located in the center of town.

This store is unique!

Having more home decor and garden supplies than hardware I figured this would be the place to go and it didn't take long to find what I was looking for; I just headed to the candle department.
Yes, this hardware store has a candle department!

I wanted to use a glass sleeve rather than a glass cylinder so it would be easy to light the candle.
Just lift the sleeve, light the candle and slide the sleeve back on.

Next, was something decorative to go around the glass sleeve to rest on the rim of the silver dish?  A small wreath would do.

So I headed to another shop in town and found this pine cone wreath.  Perfect for fall.
Decorative wreath:

The silver dish just happens to have ridges inside
that
hold
the
glass
sleeve
in
place,
bonus!

Silver dish has ridges that hold the glass sleeve in place.

Now to put it all together:
Silver dish,
place pillar candle inside,
cover candle with glass sleeve,
slide wreath over the sleeve to rest on the rim of the silver dish
and
all
done!

Ta-da!

Pulling just a few things together
for a sweet fragrance and a little evening ambiance
on the guest room bedside table.
