A Breath of Fresh Air

Saturday, January 31, 2015

Winter months can be a bit dreary

so I've been adding a little life here and there.

Pothos

in

blue and white transferware

is like a breath of fresh air

in

the

kitchen.

Often the container
makes
the
arrangement!

To protect the pitcher
I cut the "zip" off of a zip lock baggie and placed the potted Pothos inside the baggie.

Then the baggie, with potted plant inside, was placed in the pitcher,
keeping the top of the baggie and the top edge of the potted plant just above the pitcher opening.
This plant size fit snug in the pitcher opening.

Sheet moss was then placed around the top edge to cover the sides of the baggie, sides of the pot, and then to cover the soil.

When watering I add just a little at a time, in the center of the plant, allowing the soil to soak up the water.  Should there be a little excess, the zip lock baggie keeps the water contained so it doesn't drip down into the bottom of the pitcher.

Did you know that there are some houseplants that improve the quality of the indoor air you breathe?

It's true!

NASA says so!

Some houseplants help remove harmful toxins such as

~ formaldehyde - in carpets, upholstery, glues, paint, and more

~benzene - in plastics, synthetic fibers, lubricants, rubber

~trichloroethylene - in paint removers, rug cleaning solution, adhesives, and more

So...
adding life in your home
through certain houseplants
is
like
breathing
a
breath
of
fresh
air!

Here are some other houseplants I have recently added to my home
and
the
pretty
containers
they are displayed in...

I am in total agreement with you, there is not a sweeter way to add brightness to our homes during the Winter months than house plants. Added health bonus too.
