There is so much to share but with only a bit of time so once all the dust settles I will fill in the blanks!

This has been a very productive week and we are nearing the finish line which of course is thrilling for us!

The last of the orders have arrived including the cabinetry hardware...

Here's a little of whats going on with the reno this coming week:

Sanding, caulking, and priming the trim, ceiling, and walls all week!

Electrician to finish up by Tuesday!

The cabinets are still being installed and should be finished by Tuesday!

Hood vent and gas line install on Tuesday!

Appliances are being installed on Wednesday!

The countertops and backsplash installed on Thursday!

Plumber coming on Friday!

The final floor finishing and final painting the next Monday - Thursday.

Please say a prayer that all goes as planned...we are ready to be back home!

Kitchen and Flooring Updates ~ Lessons Learned

I haven't been visiting or posting much lately so thank you for sticking with me!
The end is in sight and I can't wait for things to get back to normal.

Our daughter and SIL built a home and have lived in it for a year...we are still in this remodel.

One of my best friends has sold her home, searched for another, and has been moved in...we are still in this remodel.

It is so true...

remodeling looks real ugly, and in our case takes a  l-o-n-g  time, before things look pretty!

When sharing about the Dry Wall and New Flooring being installed you may remember where the old and new floors were weaved together how mismatched they looked?  Today I get to share how well they turned out and also some lessons I've learned along the way...

I was planning on painting staircase risers and spindles this weekend but the floors needed to dry a little more, so instead I began painting the table we will be using in the kitchen.

The carpenter begins installing the cabinets tomorrow...yippee!
The schedule for the next week and a half is lined up for the trades putting the finishing touches on our new space and we are BEYOND EXCITED!

Carpet to Wood ~ Staircase Update

It's Friday and I have big plans for this weekend,
hopefully I'll get the staircase priming and painting finished!

Here's where we are now...

After removing all the carpet,

carpet tack strips,

staples and nails,

we began removing the paint, filling all the holes and sanding...

If you remember our stair treads and risers are pine,
the type of wood intended to stay underneath carpet, but we decided to see what we can do with it
and were happy to find the front of the treads were bullnose even though the exposed ends are just a straight cut.

When the spindles were originally painted some got on the stair treads so we used paint remover to loosen it up...

It was like most mornings are these days.

Up way too early,

tons on the to-do list,

another crew coming to work on the kitchen,

and today the search for pantry door hardware continues,

so after getting the crew on task I hit the road...

Kitchen Remodel Update ~ Lots to Share!

A Different Fall Morning...

It was early and the day was hazy.

To begin breakfast during this stage of the kitchen renovation we have to exit the front of the house,

walk around to the back of the house,

enter the screened porch,

enter the laundry room,

and that's where I can put on the coffee and begin breakfast.

On this hazy morning things looked different,

they were everywhere

and I couldn't help but notice.

So intricate,

both large and small,

it is fall so I shouldn't be surprised to see them, right?

But there were so many!

On this hazy morning the dew had had fallen and caught hold,

somehow the haze made them shine,

and I found myself admiring the spinning of webs...
